Mekong Biochar Initiative and ESG Education & Business promotes Biochar and Green Finance models from agricultural by-products.

Mekong Biochar Initiative and ESG Education & Business is strongly focused on three key areas: agriculture, circular economy, and green finance , with a focus on developing practical business and investment models that create economic value while delivering measurable environmental impact.

One of the areas of particular interest to ESG Education & Business is Biochar and Carbon Removal. .

Developing a biochar project using rice husks in Tien Giang province.

Recently, ESG Education & Business participated in advising and supporting the development of a large-scale biochar production project from rice husks in Tien Giang , under the Mekong Biochar Initiative. .

Developed and led by ESG Education & Business, this project aims to become:

  • Phase 1: The largest rice husk biochar production plant in Vietnam.
  • Phase 2: Aiming to become the largest rice husk biochar factory in Asia.

Through this project and many other activities, ESG Education & Business has accumulated practical experience in biochar project development, production technology, financial modeling, and the development of carbon removal credits in an international manner. .

Carbon Green – transforming agricultural by-products into new value.

Building on that experience, Mekong Biochar Initiative and ESG Education & Business are developing Carbon Green with its partners – an investment platform focused on converting agricultural by-products and biomass waste into biochar and other value-added products , while also creating additional value through carbon removal and carbon credits .

Carbon Green

The model aims to provide investment capital, technology, and production equipment to businesses, farms, and agricultural units that possess large quantities of biomass by-products.

Potential raw material sources include:

  • Rice husk
  • Coffee husks
  • Coconut shell
  • Sugarcane bagasse
  • Cashew shell
  • Sawdust
  • And many other types of biomass by-products.

Biochar – multiple layers of value in the circular economy

Biochar is more than just a waste treatment solution.

When developed with the right model, biochar can create multiple layers of value simultaneously :

Agricultural by-products → Biochar → Commercial products → Soil improvement → Regenerative agriculture → Carbon removal → Carbon credits

Biochar has the potential to contribute to:

  • Transform agricultural by-products into valuable products.
  • Improve soil quality and fertility.
  • Increases the soil’s ability to retain nutrients and water.
  • Supporting the restoration of soil ecosystems.
  • This could contribute to reducing the need for chemical fertilizers in some farming models.
  • Long-term carbon storage in soil and stabilization materials.
  • Generate additional revenue from carbon removal credits when the project fully meets the methodology, MRV, and carbon standards requirements.

Opportunities for Vietnam and Southeast Asia

With its large agricultural sector and significant biomass by-products, Vietnam has favorable conditions for developing a scalable biochar and carbon removal industry .

This is also a point of intersection between several emerging trends:

Circular economy – Regenerative agriculture – Climate finance – Carbon removal – ESG – Carbon market.

The goal of ESG Education & Business and its partners is not just to develop a few individual factories, but to build a portfolio of biochar projects that are scalable and investable throughout Vietnam, and then expand to Southeast Asia.

Seeking strategic investment partners.

We are currently seeking opportunities to collaborate with:

  • Strategic investor
  • Banks and financial institutions
  • Investment fund
  • Venture Capital
  • Impact Investors
  • Businesses that own large quantities of agricultural by-products.
  • Technology and project development partner for Carbon Removal

We are looking to connect with partners interested in jointly developing Biochar and Carbon Removal investment models , sharing information about business models, investment structures, project pipelines, and development directions for Carbon Green and the Mekong Biochar Initiative .

From agricultural by-products to valuable products.
From waste to assets.
From biochar to carbon removal.

That is the direction ESG Education & Business is pursuing in its journey to connect the circular economy, agriculture, green investment, and carbon market .
