Rice Husk Biochar Plant – The Largest in Vietnam (Phase 1) and the Largest in Asia (Phase 2): A Major Milestone for Mekong Biochar Initiative

At Mekong Biochar Initiative, we have always followed a simple working philosophy: to remain humble, work quietly behind the scenes, and wait patiently for the right moment.

Today, however, I am honored to share an important milestone in a project that we have supported from its earliest stages:

The Rice Husk Biochar Production Plant, which is expected to become the largest biochar facility in Vietnam in Phase 1 and the largest in Asia in Phase 2.

The project is currently being developed in Southern Vietnam. We officially began implementation in August 2025. Construction is now progressing rapidly, equipment and machinery are under fabrication, and the registration process for international biochar carbon credit certification is being carried out in parallel. The facility is expected to begin operations in October of this year.

We are proud to have been involved in this project from the beginning, providing comprehensive advisory and technical support, including:

  • Process and technology design
  • Operational engineering support
  • Development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • International biochar carbon credit registration and project development

Without overstating our role, the entire team at Mekong Biochar Initiative is dedicating its full commitment and expertise to ensure this project exceeds expectations.

This project is not only a significant industrial milestone for biochar production, but also a strategic foundation that will enable us to support more enterprises, industrial parks, and partners in becoming active producers and investors in the global carbon credit market in the near future.
